When people think of therapy, they often imagine the stereotype of lying on a couch as a clinician with a clipboard questions them about their mother.
At Coverdale Counselling, individual counselling (sometimes called psychotherapy or therapy) is a collaborative process through which the client (you or your loved one) works on a one-on-one basis with a trained mental health professional (the counsellor). This all takes place in a safe, compassionate, and confidential environment which helps ensure the client is able to explore feelings, beliefs, or behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories, identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and work toward desired change.
Different people seek counselling for different reasons. Some may be coping with major life challenges or working through a childhood trauma, others may be seeking coping skills for depression or anxiety, while others may simply desire personal growth and greater self-awareness. The process of therapy is as unique as you and we will work together to build a therapy plan that works for your individual needs and goals.
